Help!!! Painkiller problem

Hey guys I just got Painkiller and installed it and when i try to start it nothing happens. I can look in the task manager and it shows it running but i don't actually get into the game or anything. Is this a common problem and how do i fix it?

I am currently downloading the newest patch V1.2 it is gonna take me a while (7hrs or so) to download the 86MB file on dial up. :bang head

Yes i've had a problem like that before. but not with that game (don't have it yet) I could'nt start the game (cannot recall wich game it was) through the desktop shortcut, But through the programs it would run,Don't know why? Also you might want to create a new folder to install it in.Just a guess.
