Hello
This question is for my friend, who can't get his net working due to some problems.
He has:
Duron 750
Abit KT7E
Bios 3C and 3R
Award bios 6.00
He unlocked the processor for OCing, but here the problems begin. If he for example sets the clock to 5×100, it will work, 7×100 wont.. 10×100 shows 800MHz instead of 1 GHz. He says there is a bootblock or something like that present and he doesn't know how to get rid of it.
Thnx for help

your friend should redo his bridges because he probably missed one of the bridges........try to do it under magnify glass or sth

He redid them three times under a magnification lens... :)

if that doesnt work then i think he should just use a windshield defog repair kit or an electric trace pen as sometimes pencils dun work

Yeah that definitely sounds like a unlocking issue with the multiplier, if only some multipliers work. Make sure the bridges are totally clean (rubbing alcohol) before you try them again.

umm i thoguth 700s were factory unlocked well i know mine was.... his mobo might have a problem...my Asus A7V rev 1.01 i droped in a 1ghz 266bus tbird it wont work at spec..7.5x133 so i had to do 10x100 but i decided to overclock i turned on all the dip switches and got 11x100 so 1.1ghz but my mobo posts wrong it says 1066mhz or (1033mhz i think for 10.5x) it relealy doesnt matter what bios posts at...use WCPUID and that gives u an accurate reading of the cpu speed to 0.01mhz... and my psu is tooo weak to do more ....i got it to post at i think 1.33ghz but my hdd wouldnt start windows boot u know when it starts thinking for a sec at the screen befour windows mine would just sit there... hopefully this helps u out a bit.... and dont worry whats it posting at. and check to make sure if its unlocked allready it might have gotten smuged over another bridge so its realy messing up. :)

Well, he cleaned the CPU and now he can underclock, but not overclock. BOOTBLOCK kicks in. Anyone knows what that might be???

the A7V's cant run higher than 110+ fsb except for the ones that are rev 1.05 or higher(i think)
there is also something wrong with the multipliers for A7V once it's higher than 10.5 or something like that(again i think)
u can use a pencil eraser to erase the pencil marks u made on the chip

But I still dont know what is bootblock.
Here is a piece of info that may help:
http://www.amdmb.com/faq-display.php?FAQ=5#FAQ-12
#13 says:
What are "Bios checkum errors" and "AWARD boot block BIOS" messages?
The most common cause of the "Bios checksum" error message is after a failed overclocking attempt. You simply need to enter the bios, edit your processor settings in SoftMenu III, and save-exit. If this error continues, even after setting your CPU back to factory settings, you may need to contact Abit tech support.
The "boot block" error is also caused by a failed overclocking attempt. This error however requires you to reset the bios using the jumper on the motherboard. If even this doesn't fix the error message, try flashing the BIOS off of a floppy disc and checking your processor for physical damage.
Also, I don't have time now to review them but there may be more info here: http://www.amdmb.com/faq-display.php?FAQ=5
