View Full Version : 11.61v on +12v, -12.44 on -12v rail. Stability probs too?

Well... I seem to be in the habit of blowin PSU's, but the addiction of OC lies there too.. So basically, after prolly my 2-3rd psu, this one, Axio 480w seems to be giving me some issues regarding overclockin my cpu that I have noticed. Would a +12v rail that low not allow me to hit stable speeds?

Everything else is within reasonable voltages, usually slightly +.1v at max.

+12v = 11.61v
-12v = 12.44v

Cause when I got the PSU that died before this one, it gave me a more stable overclock than my one before that. What I really dont understand, is would the CPU be that limited THAT MUCH by these discrepencies?

uh..yea it could be. Those voltages aren't really good at all.

Have you verified them with a multimeter?

Not yet, but I can within the hour.. Thinkin about gettin a new one for a decent price. I know I dont need anywhere near that much power, but always nice to have. Somethin else that was wierd, when I was pushin my vid card, it "backed down" the speeds cause it was getting "insufficient power" so said the nvidia window that popped up. Either way, I want to look into a good and stable PSU for cheap.

Edit: This has been verified with my multimeter. +11.71v

Fortron 350 should do fine in your rig. If you want some extra power for when you upgrade a 530watt sparkle/fortron.

I completely agree with the Fortron/Sparkle 530. It's one of the best PSUs on the market today and it's only $75 SHIPPED (from Newegg)! That PSU can handle almost anything you throw at it.
