What you think about a celeron 2 900Mhz? :D
That's not a joke is it? :o I don't follow on the CPU anymore so I don't really know what's out there. So 900 is the best now for BX mobo?

I'm not joking, what kind of Bx Mobo do you have?
I have the Abit BX-Rev 2 mobo. So the celeron is good hum...what about those Pentium stuff? P3, p4?

Probably the best way to go is a P/// 1Ghz with system bus 100Mhz (Fsb), but I wanna check your Mobo Spec....;)

Do you have a BX6 rev 2 slot1?
If the performance of the celeron 900 is not that far behind p3 1000 but with much greater price, I would rather go for the celeron to save a few buck if possible ;)
Yea it's using slot1. My 550 o/c celeron is currently running on the PPGA to slot1 converter.

More depends by if you wanna Overclock the chip or not, I'm trying to check what chip your Mobo supports, but I don't found nothing on the Abit website, do you confirm me that is a BX6 rev2?

I think that a cellie performs 150-200Mhz less than a P///, comparing chips with same speed.
Yep, here's the link

Just checked, thanks, but there aren't the infos that I'm looking for.
I think the P3 1000 is a bit too pricey even though I said money not an issue, I don't really need that high performance anyway. So you think celeron2 900 is good to get? budget/performance wise.
Oh and is there only one kind of celeron 900 like if it's celeron 900 is has to be celeron 2 FCPGA?

Yes, but you can go also with a P/// 750E (with system bus at 100Mhz) and after OC it around 933Mhz or better, coz you can Overclock your Mobo working with a system bus higher than the rated speed of 100Mhz, infact a P/// 750Mhz OCed @933 works with a Fsb of 124.
There are a lot of way to go with your Mobo, it's very difficult to choose.
K, i'll look around my options, thanks for your time.

You are wellcome,
I'm sorry coz I'm not very experienced with this Mobo, but I think that you have really many ways to go, Cellie's 800 & 900 are more OCable and cheaper, but the P/// gives more power.
Try asking to Mr B, or wait untill you got other suggestion by guys with the same Mobo.
Well, I'd have to say you pretty much hit the nail on the head, the Doors... =)
The "comparison" Celeron vs. P/// having the Cellie equal a P/// 150 to 200 MHz slower is generally thought to be correct.
Money no object, I'd go with either the P/// 1GHz or Celeron 900. I think the Celeron might overclock a bit higher, from what I've been reading lately...and the P/// is significantly more expensive.
BUT... (there's always one of those...:D )
When I was looking to upgrade from my Celeron 600 quite a while ago, Tim (our MIA Moderator..) mentioned I really should look into the P/// over the Celeron. He claimed that his machine booted and loaded apps much faster with the P///, and when he put the Celeron back in at one point, he noticed a difference in loading times.
I got a P/// 600E to replace my Celeron 600. The Celeron 600 was running at 1053MHz, the P/// 600E hits 954MHz.
I will fully and completely agree with what Tim told me long ago. Once you go with a P///, you will not want to go back to the Celeron. It's just that much quicker.
That BX6 r2 isn't the best in the world, but it will work quite well. I'd hunt around for a BE6 II, to open up some FSB options to you that the SoftMenu III offers of the SoftMenu II you now have. The BX6 r2 is still a decent mobo, though.
The Doors.... you're starting to sound like a Senior Member...=) Keep up the good work! :D

Thanks Mr B :D whoooooo!!!
I'm only trying to helps the newbie like 'others' made with me, if I remember well, you was and still are one of the 'others' ;)
I have had many Celerons and P3's and the P3 is most definatly supperior. If you bench them with Sandra the differance does not show but on anything demanding like gameing, folding, seti, 3d rendering, etc. the differance is night and day, double the cache does matter.
