Hello, I was thinking about getting the ATX-350GU by Sparkle. I hear its the same as the Fortron, but costs a few dollars less. Is this the same Fortron power supply everyone is raving about that is very very quiet yet is excellent quality?

I am mainly concerned with noise, I need the supply to be as quiet as possible, but I dont want to spend much at all either. I plan on upgrading to a 9800pro in a few weeks so it will need to be able to support that as well. I have a single optical drive, 1 (2 soon) sticks of ddr ram, soon to have a thouroughbred 1700 overclocked to around 2ghz and a samsung 160gig hdd.

Will this 350 watt supply be enough for all these items?

Get the FSPxxx-xxxx models instead. They use higher quality parts than the ATXxxx-xxxx models. My Fortron FSP350 (w/ 80mm fan w/ thermal speed control) is very quiet, however it's out of production. www.directron.com still has some though. If you want complete silence get the 120mm fan version that's pretty common these days.

I compared a 350W Fortron FSP-350BT to a 300W Sparkle ATX300GT and found them to be very similar, with their transformers being 100% identical. Oddly, the Fortron didn't have a thermally-controlled fan while the Sparkle did.
