I would like Hibernate to be the only option available when I choose the shutdown menu. The reason is that we share the computer at home and some of us (*cough* *sister* *cough*) don't seem to understand that I like to leave some windows open and they are lost when she shuts down the computer. So I tried explaining to her the use of hibernate and she refuses to comply:D She is 19 by the way, so I figure its part of her rebelling:( So I was thinking that maybe if she only had the option of Hibernate then she would have to be a team player:) BTW I am using Windows 2000. Any help would be appreciated.

I think that I should at least leave in Restart, so maybe I can keep that one along with Hibernate:)
It's a registry entry. That's a start at least; I'll do a bit of digging to see what I can find on this subject.

Not much, but it's a start =|
explain to her how good of a job shes doing with turning it off and you want her to keep it up...then maybe she just wont turn it off.

You could also change a Security Policy setting...Start | Run | Type secpol.msc, and click OK | In the Local Security Settings, expand Local Policies-->User Rights Assignment | In the RH pane, double-click "Shut down the system". The default Security Setting is "Administrators, Users, Power Users, Backup Operators". With this Policy setting, you (the Administrator) can add or remove a User or Group...in as far as giving them rights to turn off the system.
