View Full Version : Ultimate Intel 775 Overclocking with µGuru
I just found this on the Abit site http://www.abit-usa.com/news/2004/20040701.php
The new ABIT boards can be overclocked 30%-40%
well thats good, i didn't think the lock would last too long. i wanna see anand bench one first though

30-40% on a 3+ghz cpu is alot of room. Good for asus if all the board builders crack the lock and the sales of the locked boards does well it might well be the end to intels foolishness.

Probably make intel try harder. They did the same thing after PAT as well.

I can see Intel making it so that the processor wouldn't activate if the frequency input wasn't within ~10% of acceptable stock.
@ CN: would be VERY tough for them to do so.
the speed of the CPU is not yet known by the time it gets made..only after the silicon stuff is laid in the right order, the bridges get lasered so the bus and clock speeds are known to the thingy.
In order to be able to limit the CPU to a certain speed, they would need a different design for each of them speed categories...wayyyyy too expensive :attn:
but could they set a limit on the fsb...?

Probably could.

i love the technical terms your using here Sjaak, lol.

lol, hey, not-native english talking about that kinda stuff...my teacher would be astonished
thingy -> cpu die (no, i didn't used a dictionary :p)
I am going to get the AG8 and a 3 pr a 3.2GHZ depends on what they have whith water cooling I should be able to crank it up to 4GHZ that will be more then enough for gaming.

But that would only be on Windows, right? For me that takes out all the fun.
