Ok I figured I would go ahead and try to switch over to BOINC. I downloaded this (http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/account_setup_first_download.php) client but before I run it I wanted to check on some things.

1. Do I need to uninstall my old SETI/SETIDriver/SETISpy first then install BOINC?

2. Is there a commandline version or is the one at the above link the only and fastest one? I ask because I noticed it has opengl support and I'm sure that will eat up cycles like the old.

3. It says we can run more than one project on my computer, can I run two SETI?

4. Who is going to start a new BOINC SETI sticky? We sure need one. :D

1) No
2) Yes for linux, and one is in the works for windows. The windows gui doesn't use the graphics unless you specify, and it's just as fast if not faster than the linux clc.

3)No need - it automatically works on two or more wu's according to how many cpu's you have.

4)There are already quite a few threads on boinc - guess we need to clean them up and stick one. It would be a good time to get rid of the old ones too.

Thanks TC, so if I don't uninstall my old SETI stuff they both will run or will this update my old to BOINC. Will Spy and Driver still work?

I wouldn't run them at the same time, as they'll fight one another. Pick one or the other until classic is cut off for good. Spy and Driver don't work with boinc at all. Since boinc does its own caching (when it's working correctly) the only other thing you need is a monitoring program for multiple clients, and so far a good one for that is Boinc View:

Participate In SETI at home BOINC page
http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_participate.php

There you have the option to create a new account or activate your SETI account. You'll then be sent the url for the SETI boinc project, and your username through email.
