I found an old (286 I think PSU) took it apart, took the fan out and ripped the two HSs out I cut one of them in the middle and now I wonder would it cool my overclocked video cards memory?

It depends, how big are the heat sinks? If they fit, I don't see why not...

yes, but if they look like th ones i see in my PSU, mounting them would be moer of a hassle then its worth

to the coolest,
good luck with turning those PSU heatsinks into more video card ram speed. i hope it turns out well.
you seem to have plenty of computing power, you should try joining one of the www.overclockers.com DC (distributed computing) teams such and the folding@home or SETI@home. Both teams are inherently good because of their relation to this fine site but i prefer the folding@home team because of its purpose is to improve medical science and to help Stanford University with their research. don't take my word for it, take Ed's at www.overclockers.com/folding. both teams could use as many new members as possible and both would be glad to have you aboard
a fellow F@H member, although i do not remember who, said any unused cpu cycle is a terrible thing to waste
