seems to be quite different in it behavior and configuration. took me two hour to get it on the internet post install style:( im doing weird stuff with it right now but it seems to get bogged down easyer than 8.0. this could be all im my head though cause i havnt used 8.0 in two monthes. ive got a question to post too

With Mandrake, I always wait for the final version. I am too Linux-retarded to make a beta OS work. I will download it when it goes final. I'm trying to download 8.0 PPC to run on my iBook here but the mirror sites are slow.

Slow is not the word. I got the disk 2 but disk 1 is being a pain in my a**. I get all the way to 92% and that is getting kicked off 5 to 6 time then it gust sits there 0.00kbps.

I tried Cute FTP and Download Accelerator 5.0 Plus. I get the same thing from both programs.

Anyone have any Ideas how I can download this disk 1??

how are you supposed to install the files on the ftp server?
(new at linux)

Is it possible to run windows and linux on the same Comp?

YMAN,
BUY THE PACKAGE! If you have questions like these then it's a great idea to go buy the boxed set and get manuals and extra goodies. I think Mandrake costs like 30 bucks, it's money well spent. ALso check out http://www.linuxnewbie.org

Whats the difference between all the versions/brandnames?
(or whatever they are)

Ex., Corel, Redhat, Peanut, Phat, Gentoo, Debian, Slackware,
Mandrake, Turbo Linux, Yellowdog, Suse.............
