Accuracy of thermal sensor

Just wondering what the general thought is on the compunurse method of monitoring temps, the flat thermistor under the heatsink against the side of the cpu. Im sure its better than the in socket thermistor, but how good is it?

I believe if done right is about 1C of the AMD recomended way of monitoring temps. It is also not as affected by various factors as are the thermistors in the socket. Best way to monitor the average jo can use.
