It would appear that this coming week will see the beginnings of the mass release of the X800 XT. NewEgg has posted one with an ETA of 7/13, and as of yet I had not seen them post one for sale. Considering their reputation I'd think that they would be remiss to put it up for sale unless they were sure of the date.

I've ordered one myself for far less than the current one on NewEgg and should have it by next Friday. I'm hesitant about revealing my source but I'm sure everyone knows how to Froogle by now.

People might want to hold off for alittle bit, because the prices will lower, and the fact ATi might have a R430 and a RV410 buzzing around :P

Of course the same questions are always "when" and "how much"

well im waiting for agp to be "out of date" coz u know that they will stop making agp cards soon and be going to PCI Express. PCI Express is the next big thing for video. so when are they going to stop making agp? i think the next big round for video cards will be PCI express. but its hard to say

Heh, AGP will not be going away anytime soon. If you think about it, even on the Intel side the motherboards are very few and AMD has yet to switch to PCI Express.

Even after AMD switches over to PCI Express*AND* the PCI express boards become widely available, I still don't see AGP going away for at least a couple years.

Do you remember how long it took for ISA to go away after PCI came out? Man, I remember *still* seeing boards with ISA slots less than 3 years ago and ISA feels like prehistoric technology to me...

LOL!! :p Can you say ISA Xpress?

You gotta admit that ISA *is* fast technology though. After all, ISA slots are bigger than PCI (bigger is always better of course) and moreover, ISA slots are BLACK!!! Needless to say, the black color here alone makes ISA faster than any other type of bus that can exist regardless of the technology. You see, PCI Xpress slots were initially going to be pink but when the engineers saw the gayness of this decision, they threw the technology out the window and then went back to the drawing table. If not for the pink color, we would have had PCI Xpress mobos 10 years ago! It's also a known fact that ISA modems can dial faster and ISA sound cards can play songs faster (which is of course, always desirable) simply because these these devices are bigger (or longer as it is the length that matters here) than their PCI counterparts and therefore are more reliable. I will never forget the day when my ISA Sound Blaster 16 card broke in 2 and I realized that is still worked much better than my new PCI sound card because even split in half, it was still much bigger (altough my friends would tell me that my Sound Blaster 16 was never working to begin with and all the sounds I ever heard coming from the computer was from a device they called the "PC speaker", I would have none of it! I knew that this was a lie (you see, they all believed that the PC speaker was much superior to any sound card available and this was a conspiracy to make me start using the PC speaker) than my new PCI card.

In addition, the performance differences between motherboards come purely from color differences of the slots. The review sites would make you believe that chipsets make the biggest difference but this is simply not so! For instance, if an old motherboard with the Intel BX chipset is upgraded to have purple slots, it will automatically run at least 100 times faster (actually 100 x the number of purple slots). Now, you didn't know any of this, did you?

OK, now for the disclaimer: While I know that all of you reading this will take it very seriously and run like mad dogs to get your boards painted purple, what I said isn't actually true. I was simply bored (I know it's hard to tell) so please don't paint your boards purple. Well, actually you can paint them orange. Now that *WILL* increase your performance ten fold (no kidding)!
