What about Boinc View? It's supposed to work on a LAN. BV is talked about in this (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=308532) thread.

Works on a Windows network with each clients drive mapped as a network drive.

Also can make use of RPC to a linux machine without the need to setup a samba share.
