howdy all, only new here so i hope im posting this in the right spot..

i got an old Digital Prioris HX5166 Server sitten around that im gunna mod out, only thing is im thinking about using the 420W power supply thats in it.. only 2 probs.. 1) ill have to modify the power connector 2) whats the +5VSB

1) not really a prob but it has 5 huge connectors on the back of the PSU that all unplug, ive tested them and have all the voltages of a standard ATX PSU except one (see prob 2)

2) on a normal PSU it qoutes a +5VSB rail which i dont know exactly what it does (is it a normal +5V rail or is it a special rail) if so, what & why is it there & can it be made using standard +5v

on the 420W PSU i have out of the server i have found ALL the rails including the REMPWR to turn it on....

The +5VSB rail is the +5 volt Standby rail (which provides power to the mobo so it can detect when you press the power button and a few other things). You system will not operate without it to the best of my knowledge. If you leave the PSU off and take the main connector off the mobo then look for a +5 rail that should be the +5VSb.

That +4.8 line looks like it's the +5 VSB line and the PS_ON line as well. Very strange.
