Hey guys, im new to the whole overclocking scene. I currently have an MSI k7n2Delta Motherboard with a AMD Barton 2500+ CPU. I am very happy with this setup, but it is time to overclock. I have just installed a CoolerMaster Aero 7 Lite CPU cooler, 3 case fan for my XBlade case, and some memory coolers. I have 2X hynix 256 MB PC2700 memory sticks, currently dual channeled. My Question is, If i Overclock my chip to 3200+ speed, does my memory act like a bottleneck? will I acutally see a speed difference? I've been told i need to upgrade to PC3200 memory to actually see a difference between 2500 and 3200, becasue the cpu can only run as fast as the memory. Is this correct? Will overclocking it make a difference? thanks for the time, and thank yo in advance for the help.

To go from a 2500+ (166x11) to a 3200+ (200x11) you would have to bump up your fsb to 200. Unfortunitly your ram will stand in your way (PC2700 = 166). If you've had your 2500+ for awhile it may be unlocked and you might be able to push up your multiplier slowly. But by bumping up your multiplier you will be overclocking in huge steps (83Hz every step of the way).

As i said, i am new to this whole thing. I moved my clock multiplyer from 166 to 200 mhz the other day, ran it for aobut 3 days straight, then realized i might not have any advantage. It ran very stable, and was acutally under the normal temperature (40 degress i belive, casue of new fan). Is this overclocking? will this mean i dont have to upgrade to new memory?
