No kidding- my thermaltake 420w purepower burned just 30 minutes ago. Luckily there was the good ol' 300w enermax laying around. I had just taken out a bad floppy drive out of my comp and I rehooked all the cables back as they were. I turn it on, and I hear tis LOUD whine. A few milliseconds later, i saw a flame, and the room filled up with smoke. I managed to switch it off from the back, and I expected the worst. My dad had a 300w enermax laying around, and with low hopes I put it back in. The first thing I hear after it burned was: "Hey, I'll take it," From my brother. With super-amazing luck, NOTHING GOT BURNED. I was like cool, and now its time to rma it back to newegg. After filling out the form, what do i get stiffed with? I had to PAY THE RESTOCKING FEE!?!?! I'm thinkin', why do I have to pay for a manufacturers mistake that could have blown $700 of computer gear? So I sent the massive complaint about that to newegg. But hey, it could have gotten much worse. A sentence for ThermalTake-STICK TO HEATSINKS!

I had experience with the 480 watt (non butterfly model). It was pure crap.

sorry I haven't posted lately, my OTHER ThermalTake had problems after coming home from Fry's Electronics. I tryed booting up my system after putting IN a floppy drive, and guess what.... NOTHING HAPPENED. Ah man now I was ****ed off. I went to inspect the wires, and I discovered one was in two and the coating was melted! I was like, oh you gotta be kiddin me. My dad said to try an tape the wires back together and.... voila, it worked. I'm guessing the two Thermaltakes that I had (psu and heatsink) conspired a plot to destroy my computer but failed. Since the psu was going to commit suicide, and it did. The heatsink realized its dishonor in failing to destroy my computer, and shorted itself. Now I have the heatsink back in my case and suffer the fate of cooling my cpu.

Chill man, just be lucky nothing got killed. Really, TT may not be the best PSU supplier, but every company has their problems. There have many a threads about how Antecs would just spontanously blow up.

I have a 480w pure power. Pretty good, no problems so far an I've got a bunch of stuff on it. Will I buy a TT PSU again? Probably not, but not because i've had a bad expericne with their product, it's that I know I can get something better (sparkel, fortron) for equal or lesser price.

Oh yeah I know, I am actually considering buying a TT 480w purepower with active pfc. My dads tt 480 is kicking well and I think I got a botched power supply (looked like generic but renamed). The thing that gets me angry is newegg wants me to pay for a companies mistakes, and thats whack, but i can deal with it. I may be the worlds luckiest man now that I look back on it, I've also had a cheapo raidmax (that came with a friends case) that just died on me.

I'd still look into a fortron of sparkel PSU. Plus my 480w purepower dosen't have adjustable rails. :(

And yeah you are lucky. When sleeving my PSU one of the floppy connectors came off and touch my case (while on...). It sparked and the system shut down. Lost both hard drives. but I'm also lucky in that it didn't kill anything else.
