Im running 1.4Ghz Tbird AMD with a A7V-133 Asus board. I have like 4 fans. Temp is no longer the problem. Im runnin Win98. Have new drivers for everything in the pc. No conflicts in D-manager. I keep freezing, over and over. Not when it's loading or anything like that. Just out of no where. I have a feeling it may be that im running a 300Watt power supply with all this. Also have (2)256mb PC133 for my ram. I haven't a clue what else could be wrong :( Im about to take a bat to it.

Would appreciate any replies.

Thanks,
Matt

You might get away with a 300W, it depends on the make really. Also depends what sort of power you're getting through the 3.3 & 5v rails.

Are you running the CPU at default voltage?. Also is it freezing at any specific points?

I was able to run my 1200 at 1400 with a 300w Deer power supply, It ran stable then and actually believe it or not seemed like a cleaner/better power supply than my new enermax,, Whats up with that ?? Just a feeling I get and I have already returned my first defective enermax.

I have a enermax 460watter and it sooks the +5 is like 4.80 and lower underload. My powmax psu I modded turning the pot in it now i get +5.12 and everything runs fine no lock ups , try and get a powmax psu then turn the pot inside it and boost that +5v and 12v :-) I betcha that would stop your freezing ,because your +5 is probally low.

I could be wrong, but I really doubt it's the power supply. Check out my system, and I'm running very stable. You I had similar problems like you. Everything that could go wrong with my system seems to pop up randomly. I was about to throw it all out the window and go back with Intel. But then I upgraded the BIOS to the then Beta 3R and ALL of my problems were solved, just like that. But your mobo is different from mine so I don't know. Only suggestion I could make is that one or both of your memory might be flaky, try removing one, then the other and see if that helps. If not, try a totally different stick, if you have one. I know how you feel. Best of luck.

Forgot to mention that I am running all this with a Enlight 7237 with it's own 300 Watt Power Supply. During the times I had problems I went to Compusa and bought a Compusa 500 Watt Power Supply, it still didn't solve my problem, until the 3R bios upgrade. Then I switched back to the 300 PS and still stable. I returned the 500 Watt unit and been stable for about a month now.

Hello,

I was reading on another OC sight, they're sys admin had built a rig and used an older enermax to power his T-bird. He ran in the same stability problems that you described. He checked the AMD website, and they have a list of approved power supplies-unfortunatly it was an older power supply and not an approved one. He switched power supplies to a newer enermax<though the newer ones aren't listed on AMD's list they do advertise on the box they're k7 compliant> and his problems went away. Perhaps switching to an approved k7 compliant power supply could solve your problems. You might want to try that bios fix that someone suggested first-considering you won't have to invest in any new parts. G-luck to you.

the bios fix might not help him, he's using a different mobo then me. But you have a good point. Your power supply should be AMD approved. My 300 watt PS that came with my case is AMD recommended.

i had a similiar problem with my computer when i upgraded my old slot a motherboard to 900mhz and overclocked it to 1000mhz. The problem was my beta bios which caused my computer to act tottally weird at times . When i upgraded to the new final bios everything is now 100 percent stable. So yes it was your bios and not the psu.

What psu do you have? list more components.
