Hello, im posting this thread in this forum (ATi) because this is my favorite forum and etc. Heres my question... I have saved up about 1500 dollars over the years and I feel like blowing it new computer hardware..... I wanted to buy the latest stuff like PCI-X, New video card, new ram, new cpu, new case, and new mobo. If I buy almost the best of the best of these componets, will my 1500 pay for it? Thanks. Btw, these were the brands I plant to invest in:
CPU: Intel
Mobo: ABIT, ASUS, or MSI
Graphics: ATi
Ram: Kingston, Crosiar, (Just high speed memory DD2, I believe.)
New Case: Thermaltake
CPU Cooler: Zalman, Thermaltake
Video Card Cooler: The best for air cooling.
Keep in mind that, I will blow the money when this comes out!

I think you mean PCI-E, not PCI-X.

Rough prices from my local guys (prices in US$):
$330 - P4-530, 3.0-GHz @ 800Mhz w/ 1Mb (Socket 775)
$150 - Abit AA8 (http://www2.abit.com.tw/page/en/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php?pMODEL_NAME=AA8-DuraMAX&fMTYPE=LGA775&pPRODINFO=Specifications)
$450 - Sapphire X800pro VIVO (16 pipe modable, 1.6ns ram)
$250 - Corsair 512Mb (2x256Mb) PC/4200 XM2 DDR2
--------
$1180

Sorry, if you say pci-express, I just thought oh "x" lol. I was looking into the new line of Intel processors, I heared about the tejas, or tulsar or somthing?!?!?! I would love to wait till the x880xt comes out.... I dont thing the tejas or tulsar is going to be out for awhile, but, this thing might come out late next year I think.

Sure that x800 pro will work with that board? I'm not seeing a PCI-x version available yet.

Well, you'd have to wait for a PEG version of it. I don't think you can buy any PEG graphics cards yet. At least not around here.

BTW: you can't get i915 or i925 boards yet either.

Newegg.com has two i915 Gigabyte mobos available right now (although I'd wait for an Abit or Asus). I was thinking (perhaps wrongly) that the X880Pro/XT was the PCI-Express equivalent to the AGP X800Pro/XT. There are rumors the Tejas was canned and even if it wasn't, it would not be available until next year.

Or is the the X880 the R480 (speed bumped) refresh/core?

I wouldnt get DDR2 now. DDR can scale past pc4200 and with lower latency too. Its also a lot cheaper.

AFAIK the x880 is the PCI-E version of the x800's.
