Well, I finally installed Far Cry on my PC, and decided to record with FRAPS.
Here are my results on this machine

Barton 3200@stock
Corsair XMS 3200 1gb 2-2-2-11
Raptor 74gb
NF7-S Rev 2
Evga 6800(nu) at 345core 775 mem

Far Cry at 1280x1024 All settings at Very High, Water Ultra, Full antialising and full anistropic:

Minimum: 21
Maximum: 57
Average: 32

Well what do you guys think? Also I can say that Morrowind runs a helluva lot worse than far cry ever will. I also tried bf1942 and CoD.

BF1942-everything maxed full AA and AF

Minimum:54
Maximum:75- renderer locked
Average:63

CoD-All maxed full AA and AF
Minimum:60
Maximum:60
Average:60

Weird CoD never changes. All games run at 1280x1024x32
:)

It looks like you have v-sync on with the bf1942 and CoD benches.

Jarl what did you use to OC your 6800?

Hmmm, it seems Vsync is actually off. I don't know if CoD has an ingame Vsync I'll check, but its off by default in Vcard settings. Far Cry seems to run a whole lot better than I thought it would too. With Directx 9.0C and new Far Cry patch I should be able to manage a few more fps.

The card is overclocked using coolbits. I put it on optimal settings and thats what it came up with. Anyone know if this is a good way to do it? I manually got up to 380, 850. I could have easily gone higher, but decided I didn't care right now for 2 more fps. Another weird thing...apparantly after I pu that small o'c on it the temparatures dropped by almot 8C idle. What the hell is with that. Now my card goes down to 42C idle which is a lot better than 51-54C. Though at load the card goes up to the same at around 58C.
I'll o'c my barton and ram and check if that did any improvement.

I think you should patch your Far Cry to 1.2 A.S.A.P. as you are certain to experience visual and performance gains...

I didnt think the 1.2 patch was out yet. Is it an official patch?

Jarlaxe

No, there is no official patch for 1.2 FC or a Directx9.0c either, so I'm waiting for the official releases.

There is a patch for 1.2 that uses 3.0 and it SHOULD have been released by now....whether it actually has been or not is a different story. However, PS 3.0 requires Directx9c which is only available through the XP SP2 RC2 download. This is why you haven't heard much about it.

Damnit, I try to download 3Dmark 2003, but end of canceling it everytime because the download go down to a damn crawl like 10kb a sec. Anyone have a link for it with a fast download like say 350kb or higher? I'm on a 3mbit comcast high speed, so basically I hate waiting now lol. Also I tried putting down 4x antialising to 2q and 2, and 8x anistropic down to 4, and the fps difference was like 1. However in CoD I put AF to 16x and the frames didn't even budge, like holy ****! BTW 8xAA and 16X AF on BF1942=welcome to lag hell. I'm gonna try Raven Sheild at 8xAA and 16Af see what happens lol. :p

The 8x antialiasing mode on NVIDIA hardware is extremely taxing and isn't exactly fair (for more than just a numbers reason) to compare to ATI's 6x mode.

ATI does multisample antialiasing only, which is (relatively speaking) the most inexpensive form of antialiasing.
NVIDIA does multisample antialiasing only until 4x, and then after 4x it does a combination of multisample and supersample antialiasing. Supersample is MUCH more expensive method, but it also results in a better overall image quality because it can also correct for texture aliasing.

Sounds like you're getting pretty decent results, glad you're enjoying the card! :)

I use 61.36...which do you guys think are the best? Performance wise.
