Does anyone have a Dragon Orb 3? How noisy is it? I'm interest in it. But I heard it weighs 2 lbs and very noisy. I don't think the weight is a problem for but I can't stand noisy things, especially while I'm one-hand surfing listening for the wife's footsteps. I currently use the Globalwin Cak38, but the Delta fan sounds similar to a 747 taking off, so I replace it with a wimpy AMD retail fan, which doesn't really work well and causes my system temp to raise 7C. It is running 50C whiling I'm surfing and 56C running Prime 95.

the dragon orb will not be as good as your cak38 i think because orbs are not good for cooling overclocked cpus

Orbs also have a habit of cracking the cores of unsuspecting CPUs.

DO3 has a better clip then most heatsinks at least (well the swiftech mcx370 is nicer..but thats about it.)

I read the noise is very close to the delta. Although the spec said 37dBA from Thermaltake, which's not true and I also saw a video reviews at http://www.3dgameman.com on the D03. It sounds just as whiny as the delta and for this reason I turned away from this cooler, even though it looks kinda cool.

Well i'm not so sure about how powerful Dragon Orb 3 is but i reckon that the performance of the Dragon Orb 3 will not make a big difference wif the CAK38
as u can see in my sig that i'm also using the CAK38 i agree that the sound is similiar to a 747 taking off

but GooD CoolinG = LouD
:) :) :)

There's a trick in the HSF section on the frontpage to quiet those delta38's... basically you gotta raise the fan off the CPU and duct it.... I'd give it a try, the Orb is not going to solve your problems. As far as fans it's either wimpy or loud unfortunately.

Well I actually *have* a Dragon Orb 3 and am pleased with its performance. Granted I've only been using it for a little more than a week... but I have monitored the temps nonstop and can't complain given how hot my apartment always is.

As for the noise, that's the downside. I'm sure there are louder HSF's out there, but this is the loudest one *I've* ever heard. My roommates even complain about it. 37 decibels is a joke... this thing really whines.

I don't know what's up with people slammin the DO3 in this thread... I read about 6 reviews before I bought it and all of em said it was an excellent HSF... and after using it myself, I'm with them.

Thanks Grunjee. I read other reviews of it too and in a lot of the reviews, it ranks near the top. One review had it beat even the SK6. Only the Swiftech was a bit better. But as you said the noise is bad, I'm gonna pass on it. I took the Delta fan off of my Cak38 because of its noise.

DO3 is quite good... ive had one (tested it) and its somwhere between a FOP38 and CAK38... isnt as loud as the other 2 at least. If you dont like the noise, get a FOP and the Tt 60mm fan.

i have DO3. 7000rpm fan motor really blows up a small
storm. haven't tried reversing the flow(suck) yet. its
been said to be quieter that way. bump it up!.

i know a few people with do3s and they love them. apparently as loud as the delta, but the cooling of the hsf is pretty good. and i'm sure thermaltake have the clipping mechanism right by now... i was meant to be getting a review sample, but that's in the background atm... if i do, i'll let y'all know.

Oh man, the clip on the DO3 is awesome! I have no worries putting that thing on or taking it off.

Hats off to TT for a damn good clip.
