i wasnt sure where to post this but here it goes>
ok i had a us robotics modem for 4-5 months and its always acts like crap on me. But ever since i moved it to my new comp things started getting really s-l-o-w. Its getting up to the point where it would take me 2-3 hours to download a 4 minute song for cryin out loud! , so i tried to swap modems with my other comp but my new comp wont recognize it and tells me to insert the software disk. And theres the problem, i lost all of the modem drivers and they were supposed to be ''plug and play'' devices. i just dont get it, i tried 2 different modems from 2 different working computers. This is the first time this happened to me while installing modems. and the 2 modems i tried on the new comp never gave me issues when i installed them, windows xp just automatically loads the drivers for the modem, and for some reason this isnt happening on my new comp. What do u guys think i should do?
PS: i have tried using the modem in multiple pci slots, but that didnt work
BTW: if your gonna tell me to switch to dsl....i cant because im not able to afford it right now.

I had this problem a few years ago with a Micron. My solution was to get a USB modem, which worked perfectly.

Have a hunt at www.driversguide.com for updated drivers perhaps? Also bear in mind if the phone line isnt so good it will slow dialup right down.

When downloading music and the like remember if its peer-2-peer then you can only download as fast as the other computers can upload to you. So if you are downloading off of someone on a really slow connection, its gonna be really slow.
