I already posted something like that, but I got no response so I post it again ! I installed Corel Linux on my HP Pavilion 8766c, now, I tried to reinstall Windows ME with the restore CDs, and after the restore is completed, I reboot, and all I see after the BIOS check is "LI". What can I do, I can't boot windows anymore, and I don't have a Windows ME bootdisk !
Help !
When you installed ME from your restore cd's you most likely killed linux's boot partition. Those software restore disks quite often re-partition the drive to the way they want. LILO is the boot manager and when you only see part of the name appear it means that the boot manager has encoutered an error. Off hand I don't remember the exact errors for what letters appear but from what I see hear it sounds like linux's boot partition can't be found......ME restore prob trashed it.
To get ME back what you need is a boot floppy or cd that has fdisk on it.
fdisk /mbr this remove lilo from the mbr of the drive and allow windows to start.
Next time install Corel after you do ME and make sure you have some free (unpartitioned) space on the hd for linux.
