Why my Ti4200 OC sucks

I read up on overclocking video card last night (using the search function, woohoo. Couldn't find anything on this topic though) and decided to try to OC mine. I have a GeForce Ti4200, but I can barely overclock it at all. In the sticky on this forum (If you own a GeForce, post here, that one), I looked at the Core and Memory clock speeds for the first ten Ti 4200's, and the Core averaged 311.3 and Memory averaged 604.5 (yes, those are right. I was so bored I figured it up). But I can only get mine to 267 core/540 mem. Then I start getting artifacts in 3dMark01. By the way, I usually average about 9500 at these settings in that benchmark. Why can't I go very high on this card? Here are my system specs, because I know sometimes those help. Tell me if you need more info.

Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
Soyo P4S Dragon Ultra
256 MB PC2100 RAM (maybe problem there? Getting more soon)

how makes the card? what kind of cooling do you have on it?

The card is made by Chaintech. And I only have the stock fan cooling on it. But I do have a side 80mm intake fan that kind of blows onto it, so I guess that can be considered some cooling?

Every individual card is different.One may overclock great the next might not OC at all. I had a TI4200 that didnt overclock at all if that makes you feel better.
You might want to read up on overclocking in general to answer your question in more detail.

That may or may not be true.I had a cpu cooler on mine and it still wouldnt OC.
