got some ramsinks i wanna put on my RAM...the only problem is i got double sidded ram...right now i got em in sockets 1 and 3 and if i put the sinks on itll be no problem...but if i ever wanna add another stick theres no way im gonna get it in slot 2 if the stick in slot 1 got sinks on it...im sure theres no way to get around this but whatda you guys think? :cry:

uhh how much ram do u really need anyways? 1gig is plenty for the next year or two. Besides u will probably upgrade to ddr2 or ddr3 when the price is right anyways, so why sweat?

ive been doing alot of maya projects and have been having ram shortages. but thats not the point i did not ask do i need more then 1 gig, i was asking about the ramsinks.

Well, situman is pointing out that you may not need another stick, so the ramsinks wouldn't be a problem.

I would suggest just finding a good way to install heatspreaders (read "good contact"). Cooling doesn't always make a huge difference unless you're putting a far amount of voltage through it. Also, a fan over the memory modules will do a lot for them, even if they're bare.

yeah, taht was my point, besides i didnt know that u always use so much ram. if you are really worried about ram shortage, go buy 2*2gigbytes and sell your current gig. another alternative is what Johan suggested, get some nice heatspreaders, copper preferably if you are worried. At least your warranty wont be voided with the heatspreaders.
