My OCZ PC 3700 EL Gold is failing - well not failing - it's generating errors when I attempt to run through memtest86- the majority of errors seem to occur during test #5.
I've attempted running at very slow ram timings - 2.5 - 4 - 4 - 9 and faster as well - as 2.9 volts even at 233 fsb...
I'm using a bios that supposely allows high fsb.
I'm wondering - would the chipset voltage have anything to do with how stable the ram is ?
Thanks.

Hmm after reading ocz's website tech support - they recommend me pushing my chipset voltage up to 1.7 before I attempt to OC this ram.
Decent idea - I guess I can try it.

3-2-2-9 would be the best timings to try. EB doesn't like loose timings so keep them tight. Also if you want some help you need to post your full system specs including all voltages and bios rev

I think he has EL...

Xp 2500 Mobile ~233x10 (to test fsb at 1.95 v to be safe (I have Watercooling so it doesn't matter)
NF7-S 2.0 -> 3d revision 2 bios -> cpc off
Chipset volt = 1.6 ram volt = 2.6 and 2.9 I've tried both...
Antec Truepower 480 wtt.
OCZ PC3700 Enhanced Latency Gold Ram ( 2x 512 meg sticks)
I'm going to bump the chipset voltage up - any recommendations on how high to bump it?
It only goes to 1.7v, if ur using stock cooler with AS5 or a new NB cooler, 1.7v is nothin.

I have aftermarket Zalman nb cooler with AS5.
I will pump it up to 1.7 then.
Think that will have any affect on the ability of the ram to pass memtest at high fsb?

I will when I get home for lunch!
I'm just trying to get my hopes up. ;)

Sorry dumb me. I had some PC3700 gold rev 1 that I got last summer that I also tried on my Abit NF7-s rev 1.2. It wouldn't run stock speed or anything close even though my board had done 250Mhz with bh-5. I emailed OCZ and got a RMA#, but then decided to hold off sending it in till I built a P4 rig. In the P4 rig this stuff ran 260Mhz 2-3-3-6 on 2.85.
I really think the problem is that this ram isn't meant to be run on AMD...or at least not AXP.
If you look on the OCZ site it even says so....
OCZ Gold Edition modules have been designed and optimized for use with the Intel i865/i875 chipsets and work best on these platforms. If you are using a non-i875 based mainboard, we suggest purchasing either OCZ Platinum Edition or OCZ EL DDR modules.

If you keep having problems send OCZ and email and they will get you the right ram for your system

This sounds interesting - only problem is, my friend has a similar setup - same ram and same mobo and he can get somewhere near 245 fsb stable as a rock...

Ok well try out a few bios's then and see where it gets you :D
Good luck
Ya i'm just figuring out NF2 mobos like NF7-S have problems with running high FSB with 512mb dimm's. But hopefully I can keep my EB when I get an A64.

talked to OCZ - they're going to RMA it for me. :)
heh, ya I justed RMA'ed mine 2 hours ago, one of the sticks couldn't run at stock speeds. BTW does anyone know what the OCZ PC3200EB 2x512mb are capable of? I've heard some people say 2.5-2-2-11 at 200mhz w/2.9v, and 2.5-3-3-11 at 230mhz w/2.9v. Is this true?

3200EB should do 2.5-2-2 @200Mhz on stock voltage and it will max out 3-2-2 at around 230 on 2.9V
Wow then I definatly needed to RMA those sticks, neither stick would boot/beep at 3-2-2-11@200mhz with 2.9v. I was like wow this OCZ stuff is crap.
