Two threads about the same topic created at the exact same time....whos the reposter? :P

The minimum system requirements that were posted by PC Gamer are crazy.

AMD AthlonXP 2GHz+ or Intel Pentium4 2GHz+
512MB of Ram
GeForce4 MX or Radeon 8500 or better
5GB Hard Drive Space

I bet the recommended system requirements would be something like a 4GHz Pentium4 or an Athlon64 FX-57 with 1GB of ram with an X800 XT or GF6 6800U

I don't see two threads on the same topic...

One is on the Doom 3 review, the other is this on it going gold. Unless the other one got deleted already.

Going Gold refers to stopping the programming and sending the game to be put on (a gold) disc.

I will not be pre-ordering this game. I pre-ordered for the first and last time with UT2004, didn't get it until a week after it was released. No sir, I'll be pushing and shoving little old ladies and small children at the local Best Buy to get this game ON the release date.

It also says that the game will be at some stores on the 3rd. Anyone know if it's coming out on 1 DVD or 12 CD's or what?

But hey the harddrive space is less then EQ2 which is like 10-12gigs if not mistaken right now (2 DVD's or 10CD's last I heard)

We'll definitely need a "Official Post Your Doom]|[ FPS/Settings Here" thread. :D

considering an AXP at 2ghz would totally lay a p4 at 2ghz to shame..i would think the req for amds would be like 1.5ghz or somthing around there..or a p4 @ 2.5ghz and an athlon at 2. :-/

Ouch, looks like I'll need to upgrade both CPU (or push my OC higher) and memory just to play it at a reasonable level. Those are quite high requirements, considering that the minimum CPU standard was considered quite high end barely a year ago and that its still easy to make do with 512MB of memory. The Video Card and Hard Drive Requirements are what I expected though, maybe even a little lower.

That seems to be the only crappy news today on Doom 3. I would pay 5 bucks more for a DVD copy of Doom 3, it's just so much nicer only having one disk.

seamadan000

I agree, but I can understand why they wouldn't want to spend the extra money on such a version.

I also think that the x-box version will have fine gfx (not computer quality, but good nonetheless) and besides, gameplay and story are far more important than gfx, but it seems that not many agree with me on that anymore.

Since the game is made by IDsoftware :p.

And yes, the xbox graphics will blow like hell compared to the PC graphics.

BTW I ever tried a alpha version of the game 2 years ago, that was on a tbird 1ghz with 256mb ram and GF3 ti 500. I believe it were high settings but low res, it ran like 1-10 fps and it was freezing every corner cuz it needed to transfer files from the HD to the RAM cuz 256megs is not really enough :p.

Anyway, I'm sure the final version will be playable on my current rig cuz it allows low detail settings and stuff and is better coded.

There will only be 3 or 4 CDs to install. They said that making a master disk for DVD would be too expensive just to save 2 or 3 disks.

I think it will be relagated to 640x480 or if you are luky 800x600 on a fx5200 level vid card.

I think (i hope) my 9700pro will run it fine at 800x600 and maybe if im lucky 1024x768

But Everquest 2 is rumored to be shipping on 10 CDs! *Gasp *

People really need to go out, spend that extra 20 dollars and buy a damned DVD-ROM drive. The gaming industry is going DVDs next so we might as well do it quickly since the amount of CDs shipped for a game are just getting ridiculous, plus DVD-Rs would be even cheaper for endusers as well.

Just got my PCGamer in the mail this morning and I can't wait for this game. According to ID the X800 series and the 6800's will both run the game in ARB2 rendering path which is "total package" graphic wise. It sounds like this game is going to look good on all the supported video cards and run decent as well. ID didn't give an example of a high end PC recommendation but PC Gamer said a 3.4 P4 or AMD equivalent, 6800 or X800XT graphics card and 2 Gigs of Ram. Other than the fact I'm only running an X800Pro, I should be able to run everything on max.

I dunno, the beginning sort of reminds me of the cure for some reason (no im not saying its done by them, just listen to the cure - burn, its got that sort of feel to it) - but the rock bit sounds a bit too poppy american stuff, trent has always had this sort of rougher edge.

plus wasnt the last news we heard that it was left to late and reznor was already moving onto other projects ? - if it is him, I dont think hes put too much of himself into it and I hope other tracks will own.

Muffinn

The guys from TOOL did the sound and intro music. Trent dropped the project when he beggan to get impatient with how long the game production process was taking.

AMD 2400 (2 GHz), GeForce Ti4600, and a gig of PC 2700 (I know, I'm soooo yesterday), sounds like I should have above average performance. Maybe not excellent, but I can live with above average for now. It's either that, or shoplift....and I'm not dumb enough to shoplift. :)
