I just got my new K7T board yesterday and I've been trying to get it to work without crashing. Here are my specs:

Duron 900 with Alpha PAL6035
MSI K7T Turbo-R
320 MB PC133 SDRAM
2 X 20 GB WD Caviar 7200rpm
Asus V7700 Deluxe (Detonator 12.90)
Realtek 10/100Mbps Card
SB Live!
Pioneer DVD-Rom

I've installed the AMD patch , did a clean install, SP1 and SP2 Ive tried everything I can think of. The system crashes everytime I want to use something that has to do with video or sound or 3D graphics or benchmarks. Otherwise it works fine and fast. It hangs right away. I know it's not the CPU cause the same thing happens with my Thunderbird 1.2 Ghz. It seems like there's a conflict but it's not shown in win2k. I've changed slots, nothing!
Help please.

How strong is your PSU??

"video or sound or 3D graphics or benchmarks" these all use a good amount of juice, and since your getting the problem with 2 different CPU's Id look here first

what version of the via 4 in 1 drivers are you using? I have had problems with some of them. Rightnow I am running sp2 with via 429's and it is %100. I also saw in another thread that some people were having good luck with 432's

I noticed that you said that you put in the "AMD Patch". Did you install the AMD drivers or the VIA drivers.

If you did install the AMD drivers, smack yourself. The K7T Turbo-R uses the VIA KT133A chipset, which needs VIA 4-in-1 drivers. You might have attempted to install the AMD drivers, thinking that they were made for the AMD CPU. Not the case, the CPU does not need drivers, its the chipset that does.

So, format the hard drive again, install Windows 2000, then put the VIA 4-IN-1's in before you install any drivers for any other hardware.
