I know i'm new and all did found in the forum rules nothing about not posting about this so i'll post.
My friends AMD Athlon XP 2400+ on MSI Nforce2 motherbord with 256DRR 400MHZ ram with ATA controlers restarts it self on default overclock FSB is on 133mhz and everything else is on default. It restart it self when running full screen app's. When i clock the ram to work on 333MHZ it was working fine on memory timings 4:5. How can this be? The ram is on 400MHZ i've checked it and the CPU is 2400+. What can cause this? Also i did a fresh XP install but same thing happened.

waht kind of psu is it?....psu's can be to blame a lot for random restarts...also check to make sure the memory isn't bad

So what's the problem? The computer restarts? Is the PSU from a good company, or a no-name one. Check your voltages and post back.

The computer is brand new. Checked the memory on my computer worked just fine on 400MHZ. I did't checked the CPU though my friend is kinda paranoid. BTW i dont know what psu is. Just a reminder that restarts dont happen when the ddr ram is on 333mhz. Voltages are normal when the ram is on 333mhz useing PC Alert 4 never checked when its on 400mhz i'll post back when i do. BTW a fast newsflesh what PSU is would be nice :)

psu = power supply unit
If he has a cheaper one, then sometimes those can act a little squirley.
There are three things that I associate with random restarts:
Memory :: Get Memtest86 from www.memtest86.com and run it at 400MHz and see if its picking up errors. Also try relaxing the timings a bit in case it cant cope with tight timings at higher speeds.
PSU :: Check voltages and make sure that the 5v especially is strong. Is it a no-name PSU?
Heat :: What temperature is the CPU at? If its over 60C then that may be causing the problems/
If its only when running fullscreen apps, check that the video card is in properly, not overheating, and has the correct and latest drivers.
EDIT: By the way - welcome to the forums :)

Heh i guess its from a unknown company since nothing was writen on the back of it though it had some letters hard to read on the back of the cooler something like 'yate or sate and soon or soos' in handwriteing.

Thanks alot David will do that. And thanks for the welcome :)
EDIT: How can i monitor the video card temp PC Alert dosent.
Video card is G-force4 64RAM on 8xAGP

I'm not quite sure. Do you have any sort of temperature probe or anything? Or even try running the PC for a while, shut it down and test the GPU heatsink with your finger - see how hot it is to the touch?

No i dont have heating problems even when the CPU is running under 100% usage. I did a memory test and set the DRAM FSB clock on default (400MHZ) and it showed lots of errors no ETT (or comething) errors. When i swich it back on DRAM FSB 4:5 (333MHZ) did't show any errors. Any ideas could it be that my RAM is bad and that could cause the restarts on full screen app
s?
EDIT: And i made full update on my video card but same thing happend when tryed to run games, films on full screen and etc.

Hehe the RAM was bad BTW. I went to the vendor and thay gave him brand new kingston 512RAM 400MHZ for the troble. And i even got a job offer
I forgot to thank you guys. Thanks alot! The e-shop people came crappy on me when i mention law sues and lawyers.
