Hmm...lots of cfm but it's AC which equals big time noise...I prefer the 235 cfm one that runs off 12V DC :p, and that thing is as big as a window on a case!

heh, wonder how well that would run at 12 volt... should at least cut out some of the noise

STAY AWAY FROM AC FANS! Induction motors create a lot of heat in their own right. Read the numbers: 22W for 100 cfm (AC) vs. 4.8W for (80W) -not so very efficient. You can get a dedicated AC/DC adapter to get higher voltages but stick with DC!
I disagree Cjtune, I have 2 120 mm fans on AC in my case. They have aluminium rotors and are very quiet. They move an almost insane amount of air (they do about 2800 rpms). Unfortunately I have spraypainted them so I can't tell you what brand they are(I'll look it up for you). They are 38mm deep so I guess they are high pressure fans.
It could be that your experiences are different than mine, but it is a fact that my Alu Axial 120 mm fans are quiet. They also don't generate much heat. The motor part feels warm to the touch, but it's not excessive.

I had both the Ac model and the Dc model and YES the A/c version of this Comair/Rotron fan is ridiculously loud, while the Dc model is extremely Quiet.Shadow is getting one of these fans from me to further let the OC.com guru's test this bad boy, stay tuned

ok... so you guys listed a bunch of high speed/cfm DC fans, now which one is really the best for me to ever order? I've seen lots of these big badboyz in the past few days in several posts, any1 know which is the best? Are they being tested?
Where are you going to stick a 10 inch fan???
I'm gonna stick with 4 of my 6X5 inch 235CFM fans.
I can't wait for these things to come in....
did I mention only 8.95 each, you could get 10 of them for the price of the other ones:)

I noticed something on these fans that you all blatantly missed.
Tachometer Output!
If OC.com tests one of these I want to see an in-bay digital tach by god!
Preferably blue....

Well, my stupid Sunon 120x38mm feels as warm as a Katmai P3 at full load (50'C). But the numbers don't lie. Check the manufacturer catalogues and you'll find DC fans eat up less power for the same cfm compared to AC fans. If the airflow is the same, then the air has been given the same amount of power from the fans -where then does the 'extra' power needed go to then? As waste heat! The air coming out of the AC fans will always be slightly warmer than the DCs. Anyhow, it's just a small matter so if your case temps are great then ignore my gripe.
I think the alu blades take away most of the heat generated by the fan's motor, this could explain why my fans are different. In fact I started to believe that I am lucky to have alu blades as the power drain is indeed higher than the DC models. But as they are connected to the AC mains, the power drain is only my dad's problem if he pays the electricity bill :D
Hint: if you plan on using AC fans, take alu fins...

If you have $200 or more just run a fan do it. Other wise Don't mess with it because then thing it is can't be run at a lower then 24VDC I have had my eye on that fan for a good month now. I plan on useing it for a project. If you look the Amps drop off the higher DC it goes well if you lower the DC then its going to burn up the motor. This is a fon only for the hardest OC. If I was you before I spent the money to set this fan up I'd go with watercooling. Its going to cost me an arm and a leg just to do this but hey their is a reason behind the madness.
