having trouble with Everquest

since they did the new DirectX patches my comptuer keeps having video glitches and mouse problems and generaly is just sluggish on my 2nd gaming computer

amd k6-2 450@550 5.5x100 2.4 volts
msi 5169 M/B
192 MB ram
voodoo 3 2000 143@163
yamaha ymf 724 soundcard
connecting through 850 kbs DSL

i quit EQ for several months after playing since realease, when i came back and patched all my troubles began.

fps drops way down in big fights, mouse is sluggish, sometimes i get a ghost mouse pointer in the middle of my screen, it fades in and out once in awhile. i use 800x600 and when i go into the spell menu it switches to the small screen, the area that is just a black frame aorund the smaller window now blinks on and off with some wierd scene.

i am running the omega 3 drivers on the V3, the mouse is a mouse in a box from kensington with the latest software from them.

While I cant condone playing EQ due to the fact I used to play and it has turns out to be demanding on your life, I suggest swapping out the video card. It worked for a buddy of mine. EVERCRACK WILL TAKE OVER YOUR WORLD!!!!! lol

im not playing EQ night and day like some friends hehe...

wife just had a baby so funds are a lil short at the moment, any suggestions as to a new video card that will do the job and not cost me an arm and a leg hehe ?

You can get a geforce 256 or geforce 2 mx very cheap. Check out newegg.com for good prices

i think they upped somthing with the graphics near the release of kunark. Althouhg my old viper 550 ran it fine...
btw dont play this game. it will take over your life
