Hey guys, i just bought an inspire 5500 surround system and i hooked it up through the optical jack in my audigy platinum front panel. it works great except for the fact that it won't detect Dolby Digital on the decoder. I'm also experiencing incredibly low volume. when i switch to the 'line in' mode and plug in my ipod, its plenty loud enough, probably what its supposed to be. But as for the dolby digital, i can't figure out why it won't see that its dolby digital. as far as i know, the audigy is dolby digital compatible. i was hoping that that would also fix the volume problem. if anybody can help me, i'd greatly appreciate it. talk to you guys later!

Anybody have any ideas??
it won't show dobly digital unless its coming from a source or something... try playing a dvd movie and see if it shows up there

Hey...Thanks...I'm not sure if I'm right but I've read some troubleshooting on it and I think Dolby Digital only works if you hook it up to a optical connection or coaxial connection with a dvd player or a home stereo system...So maybe that's why...That's pretty crappy since I'm using optical from my front panel but oh well...I'm going to give creative a call and see what's up...Let me know if you guys have any other imput..Thanks a lot..

The audigy should be able to output a dolby digital stream via its optical output. Are you trying to watch a dvd movie or an avi with a dolby digital soundtracK?
