Hi,

I have been reading about this new driver release by NVIDIA. Anyways I think they are kinda lame by releasing em at same time as Radeon 8500 was tested.

Others say that the performance gain is really a bit pf smoke and mirrors as the driver will only increase performance of Geforce 3 cards in specific games.

Anyways my question is can I expect to see a gain with these drivers on my Asus V6800 Geforce 256 DDR Deluxe card?? I would consider keeping the card a bit longer if the drivers will give me a bit more performance to keep up to my 1.2 pc266 T Bird and MSI K7T266 Pro raid DDR board w 512 crucial mem.

If they won't really give me much let me hear some suggestions to a replacement card with video in and if possible TV out at a reasonable price. Can new SDRAM 32 mb cards outperform my 32 mb DDR card if I overclock it a bit with new heatsink??

help stumped by all the video confusion:rolleyes:

If U look at the Anands (http://www.anandtech.com) review on the new drivers U can see that the new Detonator indeed does boost the older cards (read: GF2) by few percentage.

Most of the boost for GF3 came from the CrowBar specific optimizations, as the earlier Detonator was optimized for the GF2 and couldnt use the most potential of the GF3's crowbar tech.

The few percentage that is gained for the older cards comes from new CPU and mobo optimizations, and is only some 5% for the faster GF2 cards. The GF1 isnt likely to gain anything cos its hardware will be the bottleneck anyways. It doesnt matter if the system goes faster if the card is at its max.

Id recommend waiting for the GF3MX and the GF3Pro/Ultra cards before upgrading. There's alot of noise about them and seems if they are right around the corner...
