usb problems xp pro

How r yas??

I bought a Toshiba p20 laptop in Spain which had Spanish Xp home on it funny enough
So i have installed windows xp pro instead and all the drivers that came with the machine but none of the usb ports are working.

Everything shows up fine in device manager but they just will not work.
My copy of xp pro would be quite old and i have no service packs installed ( i dont know 2 much about them to be honest )

Would service pack 1 cure the problem? If so is there an easy way to put it onto a cd rather than using their update because I cant contect the laptop to the internet at the minute.

it's 134mb or so. Download that, and you can copy it to CD and run it on multiple PC's.

I can't say if it will solve your problem. I do know that SP1 gives you USB 2.0, which may be an issue. In any case, it really can't hurt to try.

Yes, SP1 does give you USB 2.0 Support, before SP1 there was a patch you had to apply.

In essence since SP1 has encorporated USB 2.0 support, yes it would cure the problem.
