Hi,

I have removed the HS from my P3 in order to fit a better one, but once I took it off, there is some gunk around the bit that the HS sits on.

I assume it was whatever thermal gunk that Intel used originally.

Does anyone know how I can remove it?

Obviously re-pasting and popping on the HS with it still there is not the best way of doing it, so need to know what i should use to get rid of it (scratch? nail polish remover?)

AHA

Thanks

Acetone works best. You can buy it straight from any store that sell painting supplies (Wal-mart, hardware stores, wherever). And it's decently cheap. But it can also be found in nail polish remover. Be sure after you melt off all the old thermal pad to clean everything up real nice with isopropyl alcohol, so there's no residue from the actone left on there.

You'll need to sandblast that stuff off... just kidding...lol

I use rubbing alcohol, and a Q-Tip. Well..several Q-Tips, actually. Works well, IMHO.
