My Win2k Idle temperatures are about 6-8C higher than my XP Pro and Linux temps... Why? What? HOW?

Anyone else noticed this?

no, 2k cannot be that much more "inefficient" there is most likely some other reason for this.
 
I seem to remember it has something to do with how 2k uses the hlt command. There is a way using reshack to enable this and some programs like CPU idle or rain were able to enable this and you could see idle temp drops.
 
I am using a temperature monitor that I mounted under the diode and monitor it externally and not through the hardware. I am, strangely enough my temps have now risen for Windows XP Pro aswell...

If I didn't need windows to play Far Cry I wouldn't even have it near my computer...
