View Full Version : Intel Pentium 2 233mh, overclock? *newb
I have a Pentium 2 233mh prosseser, (like you couldnt tell in the subject line..) but I was wondering how and if I could clock it to 300mh or better without spending any money (due to the fact that I have none! heh).
Let me know.. ;)

Hi Vitae, wellcome to the Forum,
Well, you've a P233Mmx, it's frequency is gained by the moltiplication of the Multiplier 3.5x and the system Bus (Fsb) of 66Mhz.
The only way to obtain higher freq. is rising the Fsb to 75, 83 or 100 (extremely difficult) setting the right jumpers on Mobo or through Bios (depends by your Mobo) but note, going with the first two, the Pci clock is out of the spec of 33Mhz (1/2 of fsb) so you can have probs with older Hd & some Pci cards.
Generally 75Mhz of Fsb are safe, but the other enemy is the heat, your chip temp must be the lower possible, max 40-45 degree C, but less is better, another suggestion is to use a thin layer of thermal paste between the Cpu & the Cooler.
I hope it helps you ;)
