Now thats a big prob. Try getting some VERRRRRRRY powerfull super glue. I dont think that would work either because of the strain the hs clip puts on it, but its worth a shot.
Good luck!!!

If that doesnt work, use some Arctic Silver Thermal Adheasive.

if you didn't have your mobo for long you may want to check up on the return policy and give that a go, don't try to fix it yourself because they will deny an RMA.

some heatsinks use other means of attachment like the four holes or all three of the clips taht way you could still use the two remaining. goodluck.

I broke one of the center tabs on my old Abit KT7 board and the TAISOL CGK742 with it's three tab clip worked great. The new TAISOL CGK760092 has a copper base so it looks prety good too. I tried the bolting to the board, just be very careful beacuse I crushed a Duron (Doh!) before I got it right. Now I use bolts with insulated washers and springs and wing-nuts to get the proper tension.

yes good idea!.
if thats the case and you feel warranty is out of the question you can go for the king of heatsinks"the swiftech MC461" as it uses the 4 bolts that go through the motherboard and that will solve your probs

I broke the center tab off my MSI K7T-Pro2A. I just used super glue and let it sit for the full 24 hours. Cliped [very carefully] the heatsink/fan on the next day and it's still holding (2 months so far). I checked it every other day for the next few weeks. It wasn't cool at the time, but i'm not worried about it now. The 3 hole clip is a good idea though. Greater peace of mind.

ive been there very recently. its not a goodf place. i fixed mine by making a moded clamp that grabed the remaining three. those wide ones are stronger anyways. i actually broke the same tab off both of my sockets(vp6dual). so life could be worse for ya

Is there a place to buy the 3 hole ones? I'm worried that my CAK38 is going to break off another center pin like it did on my A7A, and I'll start it up again without noticing! (grrr)

fuzzball,

I got my TAISOL CGK742 from www.kdcomputers.com. They're in Wisconsin (sp?) and the guy I talked to on the phone was really nice, good customer support, and they're prices are reasonable to.
