welcome to the forums

Thats a tough question without knowing anything about your system

you need enough case fans to keep your case within 5 degrees of room temp

You should put your system in your sig. That way people will be better able to help you. So give us more infor and we'll try to help you more.

welcome, the main object of air cooling is not to just blow cold air into your case, but also to blow it at certian devices in your system like your mobo, vidcard ect

i suggest at least 4 or 5 intakes and 3 or 4 fans to expell the hot air out of your case

there isn't much i or anyone else can say without knowing your sys specs, and case type, please post this

If you care my setup moves ALOT of air. Here I go. 1 90mm in the front blowing in. 2 90's on the side blowing in. 2 80's in the back towards the top blowing out. 2 60's in the back blowing out. 1 pci slot fan, which works well I might add. The power supply obviously. And the Millennium Glaciator cooling the cpu. May be overkill but its safe.

nah, you know that thread w/ the 235cfm fan? got 6 of those blowing air in and 5 out, works like a charm.

btw why do you think I put "I have fans to cool my fans" in my sig :D

What would be a quiet case fan to draw in the cold air? That would be quiet also but also bring in some nice air. Would the nidec be okay? or a Comair.

first off i would like to thank all of you who took the time to help out a serrious newb! i dont feel that i need the kind of cooling that you guys have. its a bit extreme to me since i only plan on overclocking my video card! can any of you recomend a good web retailer and fan from the site which would suit my needs?

dex8,

I like a cool system as much as the next person but noise is always an issue too me also. If you are not overclocking to the extreme just add fans where you system has openings. Most cases have an inlet fan mount and an outlet fan mount as well. As far as fan sizing I would look for fans that are relatively balanced. I read somewhere that there should be about 10-20% more air going out than comming in. In practice I get as much info as possible from the manufacturer of the fan so that way I can add up goesinto and goesouta cfm's. My personal preference is for several Panaflo L series fans, very quiet. At present I have 5x 80mm Panaflo L's out and one 120mm Panaflo High out put in running at about 75%, with one antec hdd cooler that has 3x 40mm fans also running at about 75%. For ~120 cfm out and ~100 cfm in.

My $.02

if i were you i would go with the Sunon fans, they have worked better for me, and they don't make the weird nioses that other fant make when you put a rheostat on em

well i mean, when i was a teenager it was really fun for me to play games and that kind of stuff. it just seems that now that im more mature games and computers are like childish for some reason. :( i could understand the psycho thing, ive dated more than one mans share of those type. doesnt it get loney for you? computers arent that good for companionship!

Whats an average DBA level for a quiet fan? Some guy on eBay is selling a 80mm fan that has 40/45 CFM and 34dba. Will this be loud. You should see people at Sony Entertainment people. I have a friend that works there and he is 30 something he's married and he plays games all day. Hes a software tester and makes damn good money.

I think one of those and the VanTek slot cooler you .bmp'ed are a good rig. My Antec Premium KS280, while a sound and rattle free case, has bupkus for cooling - Full cover, single 92mm.

I bought a 2cooltek.com Voodoo3 kit, should help that. I just dont like this Antec - tons of open gridwork on the rear.

I shoulda bought a larger case. I think I am gonna salvage fans from old gear and shop up a bracket to hang off the IO mounts.

But I got almost nowhere for fans. The front mount 92mm, I am gonna cuttaway the front steel grill work to open up the flow and hole saw out to the front bezel then pipe the fan so its not sucking dust from everywhere up front. Maybe I will go bigger up front.

Gotta seal up all the crazy venting in the rear or something else. Maybe a top mount with foam seaking to work with the clamshell case lid.

Well it aint stressful, it all a fun and fast hobby. Gotta try the salvage thing. Why pay top dollar for fans.
