Hi all I have just got a new motherboard and chip and would like some help on over clocking my chip, What I have is an Abit VH611 VIA 133Mhz FC-PGA ATA100 Motherboard and an Intel Celeron TM FC_PGA 667 Chip, I would like to clock it to a 1000Mhz as My friend got the same just a few weeks a go and was able to do Overclock his to a 1000Mhz so if any one could help me with this I would be most graitfull.
Thanks for any help you can give me Danny.
Well, you're going to need to get your FSB up to 100MHz to hit 1GHz. Just try it from 100 first and test for stability for a while using a good burn in program. Temperatures are going to have to be kept under a watchful eye the entire time as I personally like to keep any Intel processor under 40C while under a full load.
If you start having stability issues such as freezing while getting there you may need to back down to 75MHz or 83MHz and burn in there for a while. Possible increase your voltage. If this is the case you'll want to try around 1.80V-1.85V first. I don't like going over 1.95V. Some can go over 2.0V though.
Basically just up the FSB, test and make any changes necessary to regain stability if you have issues.
If none of this is making sense you need to read the beginner's guides listed on the main page of Overclockers.com. A basic knowledge of overclocking is necessary to get good help in here. It's not hard to learn but lenghty to teach if you don't know the basics.
Welcome to the forums and we all hope your stay is long and informative!
Good luck!
I had success ith a 667 celeron chip, bumped the voltage .5v and set the fsb to 100 in the bios, and voila -- 1000mhz smooth and stable. You may get that lucky.
Watch those temps, even with a retail heatsink/fan, it ran about 40C under load, but I don't recommend running much above that.
