What's the difference between the PE version and the non-PE version of the X800XT?

From HIS:

http://www.hisdigital.com/html/x800xt.htm
http://www.hisdigital.com/html/x800xt_iceqii.htm

Except "PE" is noted for the IceQII version, I see no difference in the listed characteristics for the cards.

Btw: HIS any good?

Thanks,

Oren

the pe is a vivo and has the iceq2 on it (cooler so probably better OC) - id take the pe - no need to wait or pay more in the future for the vga silencer r4!!!

What is still confusing me is that the GPU itself is noted as PE. That hints there is some difference in the chip itself...

No, in this case the 'PE' simply denotes improved features - the core and clock speeds are identical between the 2 cards, but the 'pe' has the "premium" features of the added video in and video out, and the far better cooling solution - making it a superior card for the money than the standard x800xt!

XT-PE is clocked at 520/560.
XT is clocked at 500/500.

Both those links point towards XT-PE cards, as both are clocked at 520 core.

AFAIK plain XTs are only going to be released in PEG format (no AGP).

Yes, but confusingly in this case the two 'pe' cards arent badged as such - normally the standard xt should have a slower clock (maybe a typing error on their part), but in this case the 2 seem the same, with only the features distinguishing the xt and xt-pe cards from HIS!!

oh - i thought the PE cards were the ones form ATI that came with apurdy case and other useless crap.

ATi really needs to crack down on third party manufacturers and their card naming. It's stuff like this, and the whole 128bit 9800pro thing, that just confuse people. In a way it was better when ATi just made their own cards - because you always knew what you were getting.

All of this alphabet soup stuff on the end of a card's name is annoying because I bet a lot of people are thinking they are buying one thing and are actually getting something else.

yeah why nmot call the x800XT PE a x850 XT or something

OR go by the core speed like intel did :D

x520
x475

Well I get mine tomorrow HIS EXCALIBUR Radeon X800XT ICEQ II 256MB GDDR3. I too saw the mention of: Powered by ATI RADEON™800 XT Platinum Edition Visual Processing Unit.

I'll find out soon enough if it's PE.
