OCZ PC3700 Gold only 2.7v it will do up to 260 with default timings, i got two good chips; I am going to be buying two 512mb sticks of Adata PC4000 after I confirm how they do after being fed lots of voltage...

You don't have to get lucky, you just need to go buy an SL7KC; it's not luck; it's research.

u run it 24/7 @ 4ghz?
I can get mine stable at 4Ghz using 1.48-1.50V as Vcore but don't want to damage it straight away. I've settled for 3.92Ghz for everyday use. Vcore from 1.46-1.48V

I think newegg has the SL7KC now. Those temps have to be idle if you are using 1.55v and cheap air. Bet that thing is pretty toast under load. Wish I could benchmark my 3.0E at 4 gig.

Just got my SL7KC yesterday and installed last night. Letting it 'burn in' at 225FSB (3.60GHz) until my Cooler Master Hyper6 arrives next week. Running 43-44C at idle; 60C under full load @ 1.4V.
Question for dmzguy: Is your chip stable running Prime95? Thanks -- this post is great news since I now have this chip.
By the way, you may be able to get them at PC Supply Source (www.pcsupplysource.com). They charge $8 to hand pick the stepping for any chip you want. Just e-mail your request to sales@pcsupplysource.com and ask if they have your stepping in stock. They get back to you within an hour or two.

I got my SL7KC from newegg. Mine is Prime stable at 4.0ghz with vcore set at 1.4875v. I have actually booted into windows at 4.4ghz but it is not stable. I have not yet seen what the actual ceileing is on my system do to lack of time. I will try and see what more it can do this weekend when I get home.
It would seem though that quite a few people are having good success with these chips. Is it a guaranteed 4ghz? NO. I need to get my Promitia re-gassed so I can get my temps back down again. Just seems weird to see my temps soo high.
Ok, you are all correct the pics posted ARE at completely idle. (but don't forget the IC7 is VERY close to reporting temps @ 10C above actual.) and "Call the fire dept" is correct. When running PC Mark @ 4ghz my motherboard hit 75c for a few seconds and the MB started beeping; I'm still trying to track down a decent direct-die phase-change setup, my last purchase fell through as the seller decided that they did not want to ship to the U.S.
I have also not run Prime95 on it, nor will I; many people try to argue "what good is an overclock if it's not stable"; I completely agree with this sentiment, however, I also believe that running Prime95 for 6 weeks straight is ridiculious; unless you have built a computer for the purpose of running Prime95. My machine has run all Sandra Tests (including burn-in (which seems to take a more literal meaning with this chip)) and PC Mark, DVD Burning, and FarCry with 0 problems. This is what I use my computer for, therefore, it is 100% stable.
A machine that can only get a screenshot IS useless, but then again, so is a machine that sits under your desk and runs Prime95 all the time.

it wouldnt hurt if you try prime95 for at least 6 hours and report back to us..we are looking forward to purchasing a processor like yours, you know..:)
most of us believe in prime95 so can we request you to run it for us..thx..
I have the feeling that the machine will turn off from overheating, but.... I'll give Prime95 a try...

Thanks mucho, dmzguy...it is correct to assume that many of us are believers in Prime95 but most of us (I assume) also believe that if we can get 6 hours without error, we are good. In fact, in my experience if it's going to fail, it usually fails in the first 30 - 60 minutes. Hope you don't burn your house down...

Yo situman, you are indeed correct. It is however, a sure way to get what you are looking for. As far as I can tell, no other vendors provide S-Spec hand picking. It will, in total, cost you about 10% more than taking your chances with NewEgg (don't get me wrong -- I purchase plenty from 'Da Egg' and will continue to do so).

PCSS $298 +8 dollars hand pick + 6 dollars shipping = $312
Egg = 278 Shipped
312-278=34
34/278= 12-13 percent premium. at that price a few dollars more and I can get the next speed grade.

I don't like prime either, but it's very effective in finding any sort of instability. I'm not one who primes for a whole day to find instability. I normally dual prime over night (8 Hours). I think my system is stable enough after that.
My 3.2E SL7KC seems to be stable @ 4Ghz using 1.46-1.48V for Vcore. I run it @ 3.92Ghz with 1.44Vcore because at that speed i can run my ram with better timmings and lower voltage.

You are correct. It just depends on how much you want a particular S-Spec. The next speed grade (3.4C) is a lot more than $34.00. NewEgg's 3.4C is $417.00 and you take the S-Spec they give you. I assume that if the had a 3.4E in Socket 478 (which they don't), the price would be the same -- it has been pretty much so with them.
Dude, I am not trying to argue but only to make the point that if you want a hand-picked S-Spec, you have that choice but at a higher price. That's all.
By the way, the SL7KC looks like it will be a great overclocker but it is very voltage-hungry. I hope you get one and post your OC results...

idk if its consistantly breaking 4 but the D0 stepping is indeed a very good overclocker.

So is the it the groups feeling here that its worth the extra 60 bucks to goto the 3.2 over 3.0? I think my crucial memory can do 240ish 1:1 no problem 250 at 3:2. I am very close to making a move here, I suspect my 2.6 will do much better on better ram but the voltage drop issue concerns me along with northbridge heat issues, would rather run a more relaxed fsb and get the mhz im seeking, I can boot at 252 at the most relaxed timings even at 240-245 I dont have to crank the volts up above 1.58 so this chip might need a new home with good memory anyone interest?

Yo, DocLiv, I have an IS-7 and have some pretty dramatic vCore voltage drops (no surprise) when I push the SL7KC over 3.8GHz. I notice that you have 1.44 volts at 4.0; how high do you have the voltage set in the BIOS, or do you have a Vdroopmod on your IC7?
I feel certain I can get over 4.0 when my Hyper 6 gets installed but on the Zalman CU7000, I'm at 68C at 3.7GHz under moderate load (one instance of the Prime 95 TortureTest running) using Bios 20 with temp correction. I will have to crank the vCore voltage to get 4.0 and that means a lot more heat. Case cooling is good; Antec with side fan channeled to the HSF and two rear exhaust fans. I just hope the Hyper 6 will reduce the CPU heat by at least 6-8C.

That's how much UK people buy thier 3.0c' for -- not hand picked. Count yourself lucky ;)
I'm not a believer in prime stability -- i'm not running a science cruching farm, i play online games. If i dont crash, there aint no problem.
I only rolled it back since i started playing star wars galaxies -- for some reason that needed the stability, but 3.75 resulted in NO reboots NO crashes and i do push this rig though 24/7 usage.

You are correct about the 34c idle temps being gone...My idle temps are currently 47-48c with the Zalman Cu air cooler and are steady at 68c with Prime 95 Torturetest. That's at 3.71GHz. Prime is stable there for 2 hours (that's all I ran it) but my son (gamer) had no crashes with his online shooters so, everything is stable at this point. I hope to get the Hyper 6 today and will report new temps after installing.

My nub friend is going to have a better pc than me -.-
Although there is no guarantee what you'll get at newegg.com, I've heard from a couple people now that have gotten the SL7KC from there. I must remind people that "your mileage may vary" so don't expect every 3.2 DO to overclock the same as this one. The law of averages suggests there will be exceptional ones and crappy ones and everything in between.

Batboy is certainly correct. My SL7KC crapped out a 230FSB. Lucky for me Microcenter has a decent return policy, so I took 'er back and got another one. I even told 'em it worked fine, but I wasn't happy with the overclock.
So this new one is a SL7B8 - Batch Q418A482. It's currently running 240FSB with 1.5v (idles @ 51c) - basically this is just luck of the draw fellas.. Just like those 3.0C SL6WK's awhile back..
