I need to get a psu that will last for a while, because I am getting a new comp in a month or so, I never though of thermaltake for psu's before but they look pretty cool and I like the extra case fan. I'm building it with the intentions of overclocking the crap out of it. I just want to know if anyone has used one of their psu's and if they would recomend it for serious overclocking. The shops around me dont carry Fortron/Sparkle. I was looking at the

Thermaltake Silent PP Butterfly 480W - http://www.thermaltake.com/purepower/W001920.htm

My other choice is a the Antec TrueBlue 480 Watt -

You guys are always a huge help. Thanks in advance

We changed PSU on most of the heavier workstations rigs at work in favor of the thermaltake ones, as they were pretty silent and didn't generate a ton of heat either.

So I can vouch for their PSU as being very silent, and AFAIk the actual powerup is about average for the whole PSU market.

I'd say just get the Antec 480blue, its a better brand and its defiantly known to be better.

i agree with viper 100% antec is one of those companies you can't go wrong with.

thermaltake is iffy.

I have a thermaltake 480W. But I would Gladly trade it in for a TrueBlue or a TrueControl.

@pfx:
Is it stable on the Vcore?

I would take an Antec over a Thermal Take powersupply anyday. Thermal Take is all about the flash and not the dash. My friend with an overclocked P4, always complains about the low 12v rail always causing reboots screwing up his overclock.

I will be going with the antec. I had a feeling you were gonna say that, I just wanted the thermaltake because of its "flash" but I shoulda known.

Thanks guys

I find that it's decently stable on the VCore. Not much in fluctuation, except maybe with my p4c800-e deluxe, which is known to require a droop mod after a certain point. Mind you I haven't tried any extreme VCore settings. I think the highest I ever went was 1.85V BIOS setting with an NF7-S v2 and it seemed pretty stable.

I have a Thermal Take PSU. It is nice and quiet and cheaper than the Antec. Even though Antec's the way to go for OC'ing IMO.

I would say if your not into OC'ing and want a silent computer, a Thermal Take is one to look at.

My friend has a Trueblue and used to have the same PSU as I have. The Trueblue is pretty much just as quiet. I would say Antec unless you don't want to spend the extra cash. Otherwise Thermaltake is still a decent PSU.
