I'm using double OS on my box, the network works great under Win98se, but in Win2000 professional works a little and after a while not, I'm using a Nic with Realtek chip, Trust brand 10/100 half and full duplex.
I'm using only the TCP/IP protocol and the same IP address and Subnet Mask, but when I try to browse the network I found the other Pc but is unbrowseable, can you help me?

Did you enter accounts for the other machines in the Win2k computer?

Direct rip from dalantech (http://www.dalantech.com/win2k-faq.shtml#Networking). Great place for networking stuff....

Q: I have a TCP/IP workgroup environment network with a mix of Windows 98 and Windows 2000 computers. They all share the Internet through a DSL router. I have Internet access on all computers and can ping all computers. My problem is I can't see the other computers in the network browser from any of the Windows 2000 PC's. All computers have identical workgroup names.

A: This happens when you have disabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP on the Windows 2000 computers. All pre Windows 2000 computers rely on NetBIOS for name resolution.

On your Windows 2000 computers access the NIC TCP/IP properties and select the advanced button. On the WINS tab enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

Yes, the workgroup is the same, like the IP address and the Subnet Mask.
About the reply of Fink, well, it seems to be the same situation of mine, but I use a Proxy Server on W98 to share the Dsl connection. I've checked the setting and is right, NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled :(
My system works with a Fsb@100Mhz (C2 600@907Mhz), and this is how W2000 detect my Nic card branded Trust: Winbond W89C840-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter.

Now all works fine and 'Faster', for all the guys interested this is the question and the answer right for this kind of Probs:

Q: I'm receiving about a 30 second delay when accessing any Win9x computers through My Network Places from my Windows 2000 Server. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?

A: Windows 2000 is using the extra time to search the remote computer for Scheduled Tasks, a slow and unnecessary process. Here's a work-around that dramatically speeds things up.

In Windows 2000, click Start, Run, type regedt32, and click OK.
In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following branch:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/
Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace.
Under that branch, select the key {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}. This is the key that instructs Windows Explorer to search for Scheduled Tasks. Use the drop down menu and click Save Key to back up this value. Name the saved key Scheduled.reg. This way you can easily restore the key if necessary.
Delete the key and close the Registry Editor. This change takes effect immediately and doesn't require a reboot. I highly recommend that you save the key as outlined in the instructions just in case you have a problem later. It's also a good idea to backup your registry if you are unsure about doing this too.
