I am very much looking forward to this game. In case you havent seen yet, The History Channel is airing a new show this Friday the 23rd at 9:00PM EST called Decisive Battles which shows classic ancient battles using the Rome:Total War engine. Also head on over to http://www.legiontotalwar.com/forums/ and register. After registering you can go to their downloads section and download basically every video released that has footage using the Rome: Total War engine.

bbc has already had a few series called "time commanders" showing rome total war engine (based on classic battles) and its quite impressive stuff. Probably gonna be on the best strategy games around for a long time
Animal, Im registered over there already. Its cool how they let fans vote on whether something will be in the game or not.
can't wait for this game also...

hehe im in the middle of a campaign with denmark atm...just managed to get saxony (germans lost it to rebels, so took my oppurtunity as dont want to be annoying them) and now the golden horde have just swept away everything in their path right upto my borders - very involving strategy game :)
and from what I have read of the rome total war battlemap part of the game - its going to be a whole lot more involving in your relationships with other empires and whats available for you to do.
two words "flaming pigs!"

Yeah I am very much looking forward to this game. It looks to be an amazing engine they are using. Have you guys seen the trailer? Amazing! Looks like battle scenes from Lord of the Rings or something.
There is a show now on the History Channel which is going to use the engine or something to re-enact hannibal vs the romans tonight at 9ET/8CT (something close to that) and I am pretty sure it is one and the same.

yeah..itll get harder when you start taking over the arabic countries...the religous diffrencees make it SO hard to control them. i havent beaten the campaign yet...got real close with egypt once but the french reapeared and took alot of my provinces...i swear the french reapeared 6 times throughout the campaign..Grr

its quite annoying in the frequency that defeated empires re-appear in the game (atm the spanish are now in control of russia as their lands were lost to them 20 years earlier) - hopefully in rome total war defeated empires will stay defeated...and if it does wish to play the "an heir to empire X has risen up in blah blah blah" card then it uses some kind of system were an heir does actually have to escape and hide out in tribe/warlord controlled lands or the empire is gone for good.
