I knew I was going to pay the price sooner or later. I've been running all my boxes closed, with good air flow, but without fan filters and I haven't been really inside my cases lately.

I had noticed that the temps on my Duron 750@1000 were up to 48c Load (folding 24/7) while ambient temps were at 26C. I finally got to my case tonight and removed the delta Fan from my CAK38. Low and behold there is a mat of Dust and hair and crud all over the top of the fins.

Almost totally blocked air flow at the corners. Took out my trusty Can-0-air and my vacum cleaner and took care of everything. Everthing cleaned up and running again..I'm at 45c load Folding 24/7. Time to buy some fan filters!! Just a little FYI if you haven't checked out your HSF lately and your not using filters! :)

see if you can get furnace wire screen filters from a hardware store, they are thight enough to remove most of the dust from the air, but still allowing good airflow, puils they are way cheaper then a pourpose built fan filter that you would find online

Grainger supply company offers very nice fan filters for all size fans. They are used on dishwashers and industrial washing machines,(I'm a service tech) check them out.

Mouser Electronics and Allied Electronics both sell any type and size of filtr you're ever gonna need for computing applications, and odds are, the cooling shops can meet or beat their prices on them. Unfortunately, you ned to order enough stuff to warrant the shipping though, so if you're after a bunch of LEDs, fanbus parts, etc. you can get all of that in one shot from Mouser for cheap.
