gotta be way faster if i can up the fsb to 100 mhz.
any help much appreciated

Well your rite in thinking the multiplier is locked [Intels are locked :(] the only options you have are to raise FSB and CV [core voltage to your CPU] remember when overclocking that cool temps are important as well as the only way to get the last few MHZ your CPU has to spare.

try 75 FSB you will get 790
you may be able to hitv 83 if you PCi cards HArddrives ect. can hande aspeed of 41 MHz.... Hope you got high quality stuff as cheaper made stuff doesnt like this speed very well
Now if you are VERY VERY lucky <insert horse shoe up ***>
you MAY with alot of luck and some extra voltage hit 100FSB
giving you a 1050... in reality the 700 (due to it high multiplier) isnt the best overclocker.... But the overclocking gods may be kind to you.....
If your board has FSb of 90 your in luck as you should be able to do that for sure (945).

no way i can do much more then i guess. if the multiplier is locked at 10.5 i certianly cant go much higher with the FSB :(
thanks for the info guys.

Check the spec on the cpu that will help you in finding out what your dealing with.
cC0 Retail cC0 OEM cB0 Retail cB0 Oem
SL4P2 SL4P8 SL4E6 SL48F
Your wanting to have a cC0 they overclock better.
If its a cC0 I'd tell you to put a good heatsink on it and try to jumper out to 100mhz FSB. Thats going to boot you at about 1050mhz. I think it can be done with out watercooling or a peltier/TEC.
Give us a breakdown on the motherboard. Also keep your eyes on that temp. even at high OC speeds I don't like to let mine get over 88ºF - 92.3ºF <----Shutdown temp.
I'll do my best to help a fellow folding team member or anyone else here at overclockers get the most out of their CPU.

that brings up my other problem, the M/B is a soyo 7isa+, in MBM and smartguardian the temp is read at 76C not being overclocked....
i have posted this problem elsewhere on this board but ill do it again here.
according to soyo the temp is being read inside the core rather then a temp diode ? i dont know much about this stuff, i have only had socket 7's in the past and they didnt even have hardware monitoring.
the guy at soyo said that they are currently working on a new hardware monitoring program for this board.
the heatsink is not hot to the touch so i am assuming what they said is true.
i am having 2 problems now with overclocking this thing, 1= how will i know if it is getting too hot if i dont even know where it is now ? 2= if i go above 80 FSB my sound card stops working, i guess the pci bus is being raised too much ?
i would really like to get this computer up aways but cant afford to burn it up.
thanks for all the help, Xan

Ok let me do some looking and I'll see what I can dig up for you.
http://www.soyousa.com/drivers/HWDoctor/7isap_hwmonv25.zip this is the url for their hardware doctor. I hate MBM it craps out on my system.
I have this program to monitor my system its about 1.5ºF off (low side) All I did was set it up when it got to hot to just shutdown the system its a little bit of work to do it but just PM me if you want to know how to do it.

I have school but I hope to be in by sometime around 2:30 or 3:00 if I can I'll check your post at school. Might want to check what reading your Bios is giving you. It could be that your reading in Bios is messed up too. If it is I might think about getting a Digital thermostat (Ie: something like Computer nurse) You would take and put a small thermo strip beside the core and check it that way. I haven't ever used one I am sure someone here knows about them though.

I called soyo once again and got a diferent tech guy, he claims that the M/B is basicly doubling the temp reading from the CPU and that they are working on a new bios to fix this error.. he told me to just divide the temp by 2 and ill be fine....
so im off to overclock the hell out of this thing, i just hope to god that he is right about the temp thing hehe.
wish me luck :)

Yea change the jumpers to 100mhz FSB
Check this out:
http://www.soyousa.com/manuals/686/m7isap10.pdf
Its the motherboard manual for your motherboard go to page 47 it will shout you how to set it to 100mhz fsb

ok this bites, if i change the fsb to 100 it wont even boot, it starts talking and says "the CPU may be damaged or is not installed correctly"
gr maybe i just bought the wrong M//B :(
i appreciate your trying ambient :)

If you dissable the speed error hold in your bios, that should solve your prob with "The CPU may be damaged ect.." also try pressing F1 at this screen to bypass the speed error. As for your sound prob, I would dissable your onboard sound and get a SB live for aroung $40-$50, onboard sound tends to limit your O/Cing a lot of the time.

Yea but what is the steping on the cpu that can matter to.
