View Full Version : Help! How to bend copper tubing?
I created a small bend in the copper tubing of my DD cube. (Don't ask). What can I use to bend it back without kinking the tube (it's the long side so i could always just cut it off if i screw something up). It's only about a 10-20 degree bend.
Thanks,
dwango

well if the kink is not that bad you could use a copperflaring kit, now don't flare anything all you have to do is put the flaringblock with the right o.d. over the kink and secure. It should fix the kink, now if the kink is beyond the help of the flaringblock then I you have to use a set of coppercuters to cut the kink out and put a coppercoupling in its place, then use an ox.-accet. tourch to braze it in place. I advice you use 15 percent silver solder with flux paste. This should fix the problem.
It's not kinked, it's just bent (curved). I don't know anything about bending copper piping and don't want to attempt to bend it back not knowing how easily it kinks or anything.

Well you it looks superfical yet to bend it back just put a small piece of 2x4 on the otherside of the arrow you drew in the pic and apply a small amount of force from the otherside. This should help, most heat transfer devices like this are usually made from dehydrated copper(soft copper) so it should be a breeze then again that's what they said about Vietnam:rolleyes:
I would be very careful, copper tubing cant take much stress and will tear :-( if you bend it too far.
I would love to change the angle of the tubing but I dont dare doing it on my dd cube...

Go to a hardware store and ask for a small copperbending tool, make sure it is the same size as your tubing.
