How do i check what chips my Corsair rams come with, and which ones can be oc'ed higher and on tighter timings? (Winbond CH5, BH5, etc..)

If there is no heatspreader on the ram then just write all the text that is on one of the chips onto here and we can tell you what kind of chips they are

Is that what it says on each memory chip or just the label? I need whats on the actual memory IC
^^ That is what is sez. Coirsair comes with a *wide* range of ICs. No way of telling till you fire it up and OCit sadly :temper:

well according to your sig you have 3200 value select, so its not going to be anything that oc's well to begin with
^^ Not true. Overclocker550 and I are running "Value" type RAM. His is at 255 using 2.5-3-3-11. Im at 238 using 3-2-2-11.

Soften the timings to 3-4-4-11. Its one of 3 things in my opinion. Winbond CH5, Infineon, Hynix BTD43, or *possibly* mT -5BC

CH5 @ 2.6v = 225ish max using 2-2-3-11
Infineon @ 2.6v = 210ish max using 2.5-3-3-11
Hynix BTD43 @ 2.6v = 260ish using 3-4-4-11
mT -5BC @ 2.9v = high 230 low 240 using 3-2-2-11

How high can i go with 3-4-4-11 at probably 2.8v?

I've tried 210*10.5 and 220*10 @ 2.5-3-3-11, 2.8v and prime fails after a while. Would my situation improve if i use a modded bios, for eg. TicTac's famous 3D Fire, or loosening the Cas?

I've seen quite a few ppl's sig with oc'ed Corsair value select, running at 2.8v, some even at stock vdimm. Most use modded bioses tho.

Btw, should there be any more labels i can find at the rams to cfm the chips? I don't see any thing else but i might not be looking hard enough.

heres my results with my corsair vs3200 2x256

1st chip - 041
2nd chip - 040

now the 041 chip craps out @ 230fsb prime stable @ 11-3-3-2.5 , and no matter what voltages or timings i throw at it , it wont do anymore, now for my 040 chip its getting primed now @ 236fsb (will post up to 252fsb, 041 wont post @ 235fsb) my 2 chips like high voltages (running 3.2v) and does 11-3-3-2.5 up to 232fsb.

Hey, sorry to dig up an old thread, but got some results of Oc'ing the RAMs.

With timings at 2.5-3-3-11-2t, Vdd 1.6v, Vdimm 2.9 (2.98 on avg as shown at MBM), the max FSB is 237 MemTest error-free and Prime Blend test stable. (Mobo's max is 2.9v Vdimm, and increasing Vdd to 1.7 doesn't help stability at 238)

At 2.5-4-4-11-2t, max is 242 FSB with 2.9v (2.98v actual) and 1.7v Vdd.

Something i don't understand, i can't get it stable even at 240 FSB with timings set to either 3-3-3-11 or 3-4-4-11, 2.9v Vdimm and 1.7v Vdd.

Am i right to assume that it's using Infineon chips?

EDIT: The results were obtained with a CPC-Off BIOS.

"His is at 255 using 2.5-3-3-11"

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

you have to realize that it is not stable, he ran/runs with it around 238FSB.

OCC550 has a tendency to overstate, thus confusing many, including himself sometimes..................

baldy :D

I could easily push mine to 220+ with loose timings. Is that good? What is a decent Ram OC..20 MHz? I'm having CPU temprature issues which is limiting my OC.
(512 x 2)
Currently 2.5-3-3-10-1T 2.8V

hey guys.... i just picked up 2x512 value select.... unfortunately, only one mem slot works in my mobo... UPGRADE!!!!!!!!!11111111

was thinking about getting a dfi board.... thinking i could upgrade to 2x1GB pc4000 or something down the road when the pc3200 starts to feel sluggish....

so anyway.... my corsair ships say:

VS32M8-5 PS1300442

is this good????

What you all are looking at is what is called a "private label". Which takes untested(UTT) Dram ICs(blank chips) which are tested and graded for 3200/2700/2100, then marked with whatever information the person who bought the UTT chips. Generally, companies like PowerChip Semiconductor, Mosel Vitelic, Infineon, Winbond sell UTT style chips. There is no way to gaurrantee which die you get without asking Corsair, since nothing on the chip itself would correspond to the wafer manufacturer.
