i have a friend who purchased 2 1.2ghz mp's and i'm wonderin if the clock X's are locked.

I think they are locked by default but you can change them with Golden Sockets.... I am not sure but I dont think anyone has figured out how to unlock the MP chip yet. Hopefully we'll know soon enough what the bridges on Palomino-class chips do and how we can manipulate them.

You don't need to overclock by the multiplier. I have a 1.2 MP running at 171x9 and its performance is phenomenal.
