well, i currently have a Geforce3 working with a Sony 19" monitor, can i put a second vidcard (pci) in my system in order to use a second monitor (15" adi) ???
Is it possible ??
Yes you can, but I don't recommend it (as driver issues / conflicts are more likely to occur).

What OS are you using. Win2k has come along way with the dual monitor settings.
Pinky must've had some bad luck- I've done this in 3 boxes so far, and the only problem I've run into is making sure that when you play games, the game uses your primary AGP card, not the PCI secondary. To me, 2 cards is easier than messing with Dualhead! This was on Win98, BTW.
It's easiest if the second card is NOT 3d accelerated, so games only "see" one card anyway. But I've done Voodoo 3000s, one AGP one PCI, and had no problems.
Get ready for massive heat buildup however!! 2 cards = 2X heat! You might have to mess with IRQs, that's the only real problem I foresee, although I've never had to.

Most video cards with built in multi-monitor support have a program that allows you to keep everything as one desktop so your resolution would be like 2048x768, then you just drag stuff across the screen to run things in different monitors...

hey ChapFou, i gotta say, thats one of the tightest Avatars ive seen on here.
I was just running two minoitors with a geforce 2 and some old video card i found in a computer, and it works perfect.
i have had one bad experience though, some of my video cards will set themselves automatically to be the secondary adapter and i want them to be the primary, and there no way to switch them

not possible to get one desktop on each monitor ??
cos one desktop for both with a 19" and 15" monitors will look awful :(

I'm not quite sure what fuzzba11 is talking about, I think he means Dualhead or a desktop emulating proggie something.:D
After installing the second card, goto display properties- note the extra stuff under settings now? Click that little box, "Extend my desktop on to this monitor" or whatever and screen #2 will pop up blank with your desktop background on it. Then, change the res of monitor #2 to whatever you need it to be, then try dragging stuff from #1 onto #2. That should be it. You can even drag windowed movies from screen to screen as they are playing!! Very cool! I use a 17 and a 15, one at 1280x1024 one at 800x600 and all is well.
Just don't get too attached to this setup; cuz it just sucks all the more if you have to get rid of screen 2!!!:)
